Overview
Exemed Pharmaceuticals was established in 2009 as a venture initiated by Mr. Pranav Patel and is headquartered in Vadodara, Gujarat. The company grew from a business group with more than three decades of experience in manufacturing drug intermediates and specialty chemicals, bringing that experience into pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Today, Exemed provides end-to-end solutions starting from drug intermediates and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients through to finished formulations. The company is supported by a strong R&D team, experienced professionals and manufacturing infrastructure developed to meet pharmaceutical requirements.
Its manufacturing presence includes an API facility at Luna near Vadodara and an API and formulation facility at Vapi. Together, these facilities form the foundation of Exemed’s manufacturing capabilities.

Milestones
From joining the family business to establishing Exemed’s manufacturing base and expanding into formulations, each step has added to the company’s capabilities.
Mr. Pranav Patel returned to India and joined his family-owned business, gaining experience in manufacturing pharmaceutical intermediates and ingredients used in the pharmaceutical industry.
Mr. Pranav Patel established Exemed and commissioned a state-of-the-art Metformin API manufacturing facility in Vadodara to serve regulated markets such as the US and Europe.
Exemed expanded its operations through the acquisition of UCB India’s formulation and API manufacturing site, adding finished-formulation capabilities alongside API production.
The Vapi facility achieved EU GMP certification, strengthening Exemed’s capabilities for supplying regulated international markets.

API Manufacturing
Exemed commissioned its API manufacturing facility in Vadodara in 2009. The facility was established to manufacture Metformin API for regulated markets such as the US and Europe and forms the foundation of Exemed’s API operations.
Facility 02
API and Formulations
Exemed expanded into formulation manufacturing in 2013 through the acquisition of UCB India’s formulation and API manufacturing site at Vapi. The facility added finished-formulation capability alongside API production and received EU GMP certification in 2018.

Founder & Executive Director
Mr. Pranav Patel holds a Master’s in Business Management with a specialization in Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He returned to India in 2004 to join his family-owned business, where he gained experience in manufacturing pharmaceutical intermediates and ingredients used as raw materials in the pharmaceutical industry. In 2009, he established a state-of-the-art Metformin API manufacturing facility to serve regulated markets such as the US and Europe. He later expanded Exemed’s operations through the acquisition of UCB India’s formulation and API manufacturing site.
Founder & Promoter
Mr. Dushyant Patel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and brings 41 years of experience across pharmaceutical APIs, intermediates and chemicals. His experience spans production, technical and commercial functions, along with overall management of the business.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Exemed believes that being a responsible organisation means contributing beyond its business. The company supports areas including good health, women’s health, children’s education and animal welfare, while working with non-government organisations to support communities in need.
Through these initiatives, Exemed provides money, medicines and equipment to underprivileged sections of society and supports organisations such as the Jagrukta Ek-Prayaas Foundation in health and social activities.
